Kruu, a Chennai-based project-based learning and skilling platform, has secured ₹1 crore in a bridge funding round, bolstering its growth as it hits profitability in just its second year of operation.
Founded in late 2022 by renowned musician and educator Anil Srinivasan, Kruu offers short-term, mentor-guided projects connecting middle and high school students with university professors and industry professionals from around the world. The model is designed to develop real-world, future-ready skills through three-to-four-week project modules, personalized mentoring, scholarships, and internship opportunities.
This latest infusion brings Kruu’s total pre-seed and bridge funding to $1.25 million. The capital comes at a time when the platform is expanding globally and scaling sustainably.
To date, over 470,000 students have engaged with the platform, including 130,000+ paying users across India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and emerging international markets like the UAE, Malaysia, and Latin America.
Kruu’s impact has also extended beyond students. It was recently endorsed by the Philippines’ Ministry of Education following a showcase at the country’s Department of Education international conference — signaling deeper integration with formal education systems.
Speaking about the company’s vision, founder Anil Srinivasan said: “Kruu has always been about breaking barriers — for students, for educators, and for communities that deserve equal access to the best learning experiences. This round of funding, coming from believers who know what transformative education can achieve, gives us the fuel to scale responsibly and keep innovating.”
Kruu has attracted corporate partnerships and institutional recognition, and was recently named among the Top 10 most progressive ideas in education by The PIE. It has been widely praised for bridging the gap between traditional schooling and practical, project-based learning tailored for tomorrow’s workforce.
