Mahalakshmi R Joins Apollo Tyres as Chief Human Resources Officer, Becomes Member of Global ExCom

Mahalakshmi R has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Apollo Tyres Ltd, with the role taking effect immediately. With a distinguished career spanning close to 30 years across India, Africa, the UK, and Southeast Asia, she now also becomes a member of Apollo Tyres’ Global Executive Committee (ExCom), reflecting the company’s focus on global HR leadership and transformation.

Mahalakshmi brings extensive expertise in talent strategy, organizational design, and workforce development across diverse industries and geographies. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as Apollo Tyres aims to further strengthen its people strategy in line with its evolving business goals.

Mahalakshmi spent nearly 10 years at Mondelēz International, where she most recently served as Head of HR for Southeast Asia, overseeing HR operations across six markets and ten manufacturing units. Before that, she played a key role as Head of HR for India, driving structural transformation, spearheading future-ready organizational models, and earning multiple accolades for employee engagement and retention.

Her earlier experience includes senior HR leadership roles at Airtel, where she held positions such as Global Head of Talent and Head of Rewards and Organizational Development (OD). In these roles, she was instrumental in shaping talent management practices and driving large-scale organizational effectiveness.

Mahalakshmi has also contributed to the HR functions of leading organizations like Ranbaxy, Ballarpur Industries Limited, EY, and Aon, enhancing her ability to lead across various business contexts and cultures.

Her diverse background and track record in driving HR innovation make her a valuable addition to Apollo Tyres’ leadership team. The company is expected to benefit from her strategic approach to building future-focused, high-performance work cultures.
