On August 4, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the Global Capability Centre (GCC) of U.S. pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Company in Hyderabad. Hailing the development as a major milestone, the CM described the facility as “not an ordinary GCC, but a nerve-center of Eli Lilly,” highlighting its significance in the company’s global operations.
Applauding IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla for his leadership, Reddy credited the event as a testament to Hyderabad’s rapid transformation into the global capital for GCCs in less than 20 months. The 2,20,000 square foot facility will enhance Eli Lilly’s worldwide operations by advancing digital innovation in critical areas such as AI, automation, and cloud technologies.
“We are proud that one in every three vaccines administered anywhere in the world is developed or manufactured in Hyderabad,” the Chief Minister said, reinforcing the city’s position as India’s leading hub for life sciences.
The centre aligns with the broader Telangana Rising 2047 vision, supporting the state’s roadmap toward becoming a one trillion-dollar economy. Currently employing 100 professionals, the centre plans to expand its workforce to 1,500, offering significant opportunities for local biotech and digital talent.
“You are not just living and working in Hyderabad – you are now part of our family,” Reddy told the Eli Lilly team, underlining their role in contributing to the future of global healthcare from India.
The launch of Eli Lilly’s GCC reflects a larger trend of multinational corporations deepening their presence in Hyderabad, leveraging the city’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and thriving innovation ecosystem. As the demand for digital transformation accelerates in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, Hyderabad continues to position itself as a preferred destination for high-value, innovation-driven investments.
This new facility not only strengthens Eli Lilly’s global footprint but also plays a crucial role in reinforcing Telangana’s vision of being a leading innovation-driven economy.
