T-Mobile has appointed Chandra Gupta as Vice President – Information Technology, adding over two decades of leadership experience in BFSI, technology strategy, and large-scale transformation programs across global markets, including Europe, CIS, Africa, Asia, and North America.
Before joining T-Mobile, Gupta served as Senior Vice President and IT Division Executive at FIS, where he oversaw strategic initiatives in digital, mobility, analytics, and cloud adoption. In this role, he was instrumental in driving high-impact transformation programs aligned with business growth objectives.
Earlier, as Chief Technology Officer at Nippon India Mutual Fund (formerly Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management), Gupta developed multi-year enterprise technology strategies, deployed advanced mobility and analytics platforms, migrated critical infrastructure to cloud environments, and implemented global vendor engagement frameworks.
His prior tenure at Barclays Bank Plc, India, as Director and Head of IT, involved delivering mission-critical solutions for retail and corporate banking, cards, treasury, and alternative banking channels.
Gupta also held senior leadership roles at RBS Global Banking & Markets, where he established a global IT function comprising over 250 full-time employees for production support, quality assurance, and release management. At Citi, where he spent nearly a decade, he focused on technology-led innovation, operational efficiency, and robust governance practices.
Throughout his career, Gupta has demonstrated expertise in translating strategic objectives into measurable technology outcomes, optimizing infrastructure for cost efficiency, enhancing vendor governance, and strengthening risk and control frameworks. His track record reflects consistent success in building high-performance, cross-border teams and delivering enterprise-grade transformation across diverse regulatory and market landscapes.
With his extensive experience and proven leadership in technology modernization, Gupta is expected to contribute significantly to T-Mobile’s IT strategy, driving innovation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation initiatives.
