Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a strategic collaboration with CEA-List, France’s premier research institute, to advance the development of Physical AI — systems that enable machines to sense, interpret, and interact with the physical world. The partnership aims to accelerate industrial modernisation by combining CEA’s deep scientific research expertise with TCS’ global reach and industry-specific knowledge. Together, they seek to create AI-powered solutions that enhance productivity, resilience, and competitiveness across sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and automation.
Alexandre Bounouh, MBA, PhD, HDR, director of CEA-List, said, “This partnership will enable us to connect cutting-edge research with the concrete needs of businesses and to jointly invent the intelligent systems of tomorrow.” He added, “By transforming collaboration between humans and machines, AI solutions applied to physical systems will optimise the production chain, boosting the resilience and competitiveness of French and European businesses.”
The collaboration will focus on three key domains: versatile robotics, advanced human-robot collaboration, and socially assistive robotics. These initiatives will result in tangible solutions, proof-of-concept deployments, and training programs to help organisations adopt next-generation technologies with confidence.
Rammohan Gourneni, managing director of TCS in France, emphasised the significance of this initiative, saying, “Physical AI is a key technology for the future of industry, as it combines the power of AI with the intelligence of physical systems. This partnership marks an important step in supporting our clients in their industrial transformation.”
The initiative will leverage the TCS Pace Port Paris — the company’s research and innovation hub — to co-innovate with experts, startups, and industry partners. This collaborative ecosystem will enable rapid prototyping, testing, and scaling of Physical AI solutions, helping businesses achieve greater efficiency, automation, and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
By merging research excellence with practical application, the TCS–CEA-List alliance seeks to shape the future of human-machine collaboration and redefine how industries operate in an AI-first world.
