The appointment marks a pivotal moment in the Group’s diversification strategy as it looks to leverage its vast land assets across South India to develop world-class destinations focused on wellness, leisure, and sustainability.
The Sona Valliappa Group, celebrated for its legacy across industries such as Tech Parks, Textiles, Engineering, Medical, and Education, is now embarking on a new chapter in experiential tourism. The Group’s first major venture in this direction is a 33-acre flagship resort in Yercaud, envisioned as an eco-luxury and holistic wellness retreat. Designed to redefine experiential travel in India, the project underscores the Group’s commitment to blending sustainability with luxury and local culture.
With nearly 25 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, Dharmendra brings a wealth of expertise in managing large-scale operations, brand building, and customer experience. Before joining Sona Star, he served as General Manager – Operations at HM Group, overseeing more than 50 Family Entertainment Centres and popular dining brands such as Three Quarter Chinese, Chutney Chang, Subz, and Amoeba Sports Bar. He later held the position of Chief Operating Officer at GIGU Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. (Gilly’s Group), where he was instrumental in shaping one of South India’s most successful hospitality brands.
