Adobe Unveils Major Firefly AI Upgrades at MAX 2025 with New Tools for Video, Audio, and Imaging

At Adobe MAX 2025, Adobe introduced a sweeping set of upgrades to its Firefly creative AI suite, marking one of the company’s most significant pushes yet into multimodal generative creation. The enhanced platform now expands beyond imaging into AI-driven audio and video tools, giving creators new ways to generate, edit, and refine content using both text and visual inputs.

Among the most notable additions are Generate Soundtrack, which produces licensed instrumental music, and Generate Speech, a feature designed for creating multilingual voiceovers. A new timeline-based AI video editor has also been added, enabling users to produce and sequence video clips directly within Firefly. This unified workspace allows seamless editing, combining natural language prompts with visual cues for a more intuitive creative process.

Adobe also rolled out the Firefly Image Model 5, its latest and most advanced image generation model to date. Capable of producing 4-megapixel photorealistic visuals, the model offers a noticeable boost in realism and texture fidelity. It also introduces a “Prompt to Edit” capability, allowing users to make precise image adjustments simply by describing them in natural language—eliminating the need for complex manual editing steps.

A standout element of this year’s release is Firefly’s deeper integration with partner AI models from ElevenLabs, Google, OpenAI, Topaz Labs, Luma AI, and Runway, expanding its creative ecosystem. Adobe has also introduced Custom Models, enabling individuals and enterprises to train personalised generative tools tuned to their brand style or artistic preferences.

Adding another layer of intelligence, Adobe previewed an experimental feature called Project Moonlight—a conversational AI assistant that helps creators transform ideas into finished content. Moonlight can interpret creative intent, suggest workflows, and automate production tasks, offering a glimpse into Adobe’s vision for the next generation of AI-powered creation.

While most of the newly announced Firefly capabilities are entering public beta, select tools—including the AI video editor, Custom Models, and Project Moonlight—remain in private beta for early testing. Together, these updates position Firefly as a powerful, end-to-end creative engine redefining how professionals and hobbyists alike bring their ideas to life.
