Google is taking a major leap forward in AI infrastructure with the introduction of its 7th-generation Ironwood Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), which will soon be generally available in the coming weeks. The new custom-built silicon represents a significant evolution in Google’s in-house AI hardware, offering up to 10x peak performance improvement over its predecessor and supporting scalability up to massive 9,216-chip Superpods for the most demanding AI workloads.

The Ironwood TPU is designed to deliver unprecedented compute power and efficiency for large-scale artificial intelligence training and inference. This launch underlines Google’s growing focus on AI-first infrastructure — an area increasingly critical to supporting enterprise and developer needs in an era of rapid AI adoption.
