
Reliance Industries Limited has named Shrivallabha Kulkarni as Chief Digital Officer & Senior Vice President – Battery Business, a move that underscores the company’s focus on strengthening its digital and new-energy capabilities. The appointment marks an important milestone in Kulkarni’s distinguished career, which spans digital manufacturing, engineering transformation, enterprise technology, and large-scale IT modernization across global automotive and industrial organizations.
Before joining Reliance, Kulkarni played a pivotal role at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business], where he led key digital transformation programs. His work spanned MES, OT, ICS, cloud analytics, IoT, and AI/ML initiatives, helping modernize core manufacturing and engineering operations. His tenure as Sr GM & Head of Product Development IT at Mahindra Research Valley reinforced his credentials as a leader in PLM modernization, cybersecurity, digital engineering, and enterprise IT maturity.
Kulkarni’s professional journey includes significant contributions to Tata Motors, Tata Technologies, Ferrari, General Motors, and Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd. Over the years, he has driven transformation across product development IT, PLM lifecycle programs, engineering IT platforms, R&D collaboration systems, and enterprise-scale digital deployments. His work with Ferrari—supporting its PLM ecosystem through Tata Consultancy Services—demonstrated his capability to operate at the highest levels of engineering precision and digital tooling. At GM Technical Center India, he helped operationalize more than 100 IT applications, and at Tata Motors, he played a role in advancing major greenfield technology initiatives.
With a track record of delivering complex digital outcomes and harmonizing advanced technologies with large manufacturing systems, Kulkarni now steps into a role that will help steer Reliance’s expanding battery and new-energy ambitions. His appointment places him at the forefront of the company’s push to build cutting-edge digital infrastructure for one of its most strategic growth areas, positioning him to accelerate innovation and drive the next phase of technology-led leadership within the energy transition landscape.
