KRC Murty has taken charge as Executive Vice President – Head IT (BS) at SBI Life Insurance, marking a significant leadership addition as the insurer continues to strengthen its technology and business systems landscape.
Based in Mumbai, Murty will be responsible for overseeing IT for Business Systems (BS), with a focus on platform stability, operational excellence, and technology enablement aligned with business growth. His appointment comes at a time when life insurers are accelerating digital modernization to enhance customer experience, improve resilience, and meet evolving regulatory and market demands.
Prior to this role, Murty served as Senior President – Head – AMG & IMG – Business & Digital Technology Solutions at YES BANK, where he led large-scale business and digital technology portfolios. During his tenure, he played a key role in driving enterprise technology strategy, strengthening leadership frameworks, and delivering complex transformation programs within a highly regulated banking environment.
Before YES BANK, Murty spent nearly five years at Kotak Mahindra Bank as Head of RTB (Information Technology). In this role, he was responsible for run-the-bank operations, ensuring system stability, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across critical IT platforms supporting core banking and business operations.
A substantial part of Murty’s career was spent at Deutsche Bank, where he served for over 13 years in multiple senior leadership roles. He headed technology support for Global Markets, Asset Management, and Private Wealth Management businesses, and was Head of Market Data Services for South Asia, managing one of the largest market data portfolios in the region. He also led end-user services across corporate banking, investment banking, retail banking, and securities businesses, while supporting senior management and spearheading automated trading initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Murty worked with Merrill Lynch as Assistant Vice President – Technology, where he headed end-user computing for the India office network.
With over two decades of experience across global banks and financial institutions, Murty brings deep expertise in IT operations, market data services, technology governance, and large-scale enterprise environments. His appointment is expected to further strengthen SBI Life Insurance’s technology foundation as the organization continues to scale its digital and business capabilities.
