Britannia Industries Limited has announced the appointment of Subhashis Basu as Chief Business Officer – Britannia Dairy, effective December 2025. In this expanded leadership role, Basu will spearhead Britannia’s end-to-end dairy business, including the cheese joint venture with France-based Bel Group, while also joining the Executive Committee of Britannia Industries Limited. The move underlines Britannia’s intent to accelerate growth and deepen its strategic focus on the fast-evolving dairy segment.
As CEO of Britannia Industries Limited Bel Foods Pvt. Ltd., Basu will oversee the joint venture’s operations, strategy, and market expansion, strengthening Britannia’s presence in value-added dairy categories such as cheese. In parallel, his role as Chief Business Officer – Britannia Dairy positions him at the helm of the company’s broader dairy portfolio, aligning innovation, go-to-market strategies, and long-term capability building. His inclusion in the Executive Committee further reflects the strategic importance of dairy within Britannia’s overall growth roadmap.
Before joining Britannia Industries Limited, Basu was associated with the Lactalis Group, where he served as Chief Commercial Director – India and CEO of Anik Milk Products. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in integrating and scaling Lactalis’ India operations, driving growth across multiple business units and strengthening commercial execution in a competitive dairy landscape.
Earlier in his career, Basu held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Prataap Snacks Limited, where he managed a ₹14 billion profit-and-loss portfolio. His leadership there included steering the company through a successful initial public offering, expanding product diversification, and supporting mergers and acquisitions to unlock new growth avenues. He has also held senior leadership roles at Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., PepsiCo, Tập đoàn Tân Hiệp Phát, and Parle Products Pvt. Ltd., bringing with him deep expertise across food, beverages, and consumer goods.
With a track record spanning operational leadership, large-scale P&L management, and transformation-led growth, Subhashis Basu’s appointment is expected to further strengthen Britannia’s dairy strategy and support sustained long-term value creation as the company scales its presence in high-growth dairy categories.
