CloudSEK Raises $10 Million from Connecticut Innovations, Marks First Indian-Origin Cybersecurity Firm Backed by a US State Fund

Bengaluru-based cybersecurity company CloudSEK has raised $10 million in funding from Connecticut Innovations (CI), the strategic venture capital arm of the State of Connecticut in the US, marking a significant milestone for the Indian cybersecurity ecosystem. The investment makes CloudSEK the first Indian-origin cybersecurity firm to receive backing from a US state-backed venture fund, underscoring growing global confidence in India’s cyber innovation capabilities.

Commenting on the development, CloudSEK Co-founder and CEO Rahul Sasi (Shashi) said, “Becoming the first Indian-origin cybersecurity company to receive backing from a US state fund is a milestone for CloudSEK, as well as for the entire Indian cybersecurity ecosystem.”

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate CloudSEK’s expansion in the United States, with a strong focus on building a local team and deepening customer engagement. “We have a 5-person team in the US, which we will increase to 15 by March, and around 20 people in the next 12-18 months. These jobs are very high-paying and for very high-end talents,” Sasi said. Alongside talent expansion, the company plans to significantly scale its customer base in the region. CloudSEK currently serves 20 clients in the US and is targeting growth to 200 customers over the next year.

Founded in 2015, CloudSEK has grown into a leading predictive cyber threat intelligence platform, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify and mitigate digital risks before they escalate into active threats. The company today serves more than 300 enterprises globally, spanning sectors such as banking, healthcare, technology, and e-commerce, helping organisations detect threats across the surface, deep, and dark web.

Connecticut Innovations highlighted CloudSEK’s global relevance and growth potential as key drivers behind the investment. Alison J. Malloy, Managing Director of Investments at CI, said, “We are excited to welcome CloudSEK to the CI portfolio and look forward to supporting their team as they establish their US hub.”

The investment reflects a broader trend of increasing cross-border collaboration in cybersecurity, as governments and enterprises seek advanced solutions to counter rapidly evolving digital threats. For CloudSEK, the backing from a US state-linked fund not only provides capital, but also strategic validation as it strengthens its footprint in one of the world’s most competitive cybersecurity markets.

With this funding, CloudSEK aims to reinforce its position as a global player in predictive cyber intelligence while contributing to job creation and innovation across both India and the United States.
