Digital Striker, a startup specializing in optical fiber tools and equipment, has secured $1 million (around ₹8.5 crore) in funding from Foxhog Ventures, a U.S.-based venture capital firm led by CEO Tarun Poddar. The investment will be used to establish India’s first manufacturing facility for optical fiber tools, a segment currently dominated entirely by Chinese imports.
Founded in 2021 by Priyanka, Digital Striker provides essential fiber optic products, including fiber strippers, cleavers, visual fault locators (VFLs), power meters, and splicing machines. Until now, the company has relied on imports to serve its reseller network across India.
The optical fiber sector in India is almost entirely dependent on China for tools required to build and maintain the country’s digital infrastructure. Only about 35 percent of India’s mobile towers are fiber-connected, highlighting significant untapped potential. The reliance on imports has posed challenges such as 100 percent advance payments, long sea-freight delivery times, bulk order requirements, and a lack of local service support.
Approximately ₹5–6 crore from the funding will go toward setting up a manufacturing plant, hiring talent, and establishing offices in major metro cities, while the remaining ₹4–5 crore will support import operations until local production scales up. The company plans to begin manufacturing with 5–7 products in the initial phase, eventually expanding its portfolio with a goal of reaching ₹100 crore in revenue within four to five years.
Digital Striker has already demonstrated a strong business foundation. Over the past 40 months, the bootstrapped startup has built a network of more than 450 resellers and end customers across India, achieving a turnover of ₹8.85 crore. The founders bring over 15 years of combined experience in the optical fiber and technology sectors.
Priyanka, co-founder of Digital Striker, said, “We started Digital Striker because we saw firsthand how badly the industry needed local solutions. Every single tool—strippers, cleavers, OTDRs—was coming from China with no local support, no customization, and painful payment terms. This funding from Foxhog gives us the runway to finally start manufacturing in India. We will be the first, and we intend to do it right.”
The company aims to scale manufacturing operations over the next few years while expanding distribution across the country, reducing India’s dependence on imports and improving availability of essential fiber optic tools.
