
Sterlite Group has appointed Sumil Mathur as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO), entrusting him with the financial stewardship of its key businesses, including Sterlite Electric, Resonia Ltd., and Serentica Renewables. The appointment brings seasoned financial leadership to the Group’s capital goods, power transmission infrastructure, and renewable energy operations in India.
With nearly three decades of leadership experience, Sumil will drive the Group’s financial strategy, governance, and capital framework. In a press release, Sterlite Electric said Sumil Mathur would be overseeing risk management and financial transformation to enable sustainable growth and long-term value creation across businesses. In his role as Group Chief Financial Officer at Sterlite Electric (Sterlite group), he leads the global financial strategy, capital management, and corporate governance for the diversified industrial powerhouse, ensuring fiscal discipline while supporting long-term strategic expansion across verticals.
Before joining the Group, Sumil served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at EMAAR India Limited, where he played a pivotal role in shaping and executing its post-demerger strategy. During this tenure, he was instrumental in driving operational restructuring and financial stabilisation, helping position the company for renewed growth and stability.
Over the course of his career, Sumil has built a strong presence across sectors including real estate, telecommunications, and manufacturing. He previously held the role of Vice President – Finance at HCL Infosystems Ltd., where he managed complex group-level restructuring initiatives. As General Manager – Finance at Indus Towers, he led Oracle implementation projects and oversaw financial operations for a team of more than 100 professionals.
His early professional foundation was shaped during a decade-long tenure at JCB, complemented by key roles at Bharti Airtel and India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.. By combining deep expertise in IFRS, Ind AS, and large-scale ERP transformations with hands-on operational leadership, Sumil now spearheads the global financial mandate for Sterlite Group, guiding its businesses toward disciplined growth and long-term value creation.
