
Amit Waghmare, has stepped into the role of Chief Information Officer at Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times of India), marking a notable leadership transition in India’s media and publishing technology ecosystem. He assumed the position in February 2026 and is currently based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, working on-site.
With more than two decades of cross-sector experience spanning media, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare, Amit brings a deep understanding of enterprise IT strategy, digital transformation, product development, procurement, and large-scale technology management. His appointment is expected to strengthen Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd.’s technology backbone across its print, digital, and enterprise platforms.
Before taking on this new mandate, Amit served as Group Chief Information Officer at DB Corp Ltd. from June 2020 to January 2026. During his five years and eight months with the organisation, he led enterprise-wide IT strategy and oversaw technology modernisation initiatives across the group’s expansive media operations. His work focused on aligning digital innovation with business priorities while building scalable and future-ready technology frameworks.
Prior to his tenure at DB Corp Ltd., Amit held multiple leadership positions at Page Industries Ltd. in Bangalore. He served as Head of Information Technology from October 2017 to June 2020 and earlier as AGM – IT from September 2008 to April 2017. Across nearly 11 years at the company, he drove significant IT transformation initiatives, strengthened management information systems, enabled e-commerce capabilities, and modernised enterprise systems to support operational efficiency and growth.
In 2017, he briefly took on the role of Head of Information Technology at VIP Industries Limited in Mumbai, where he was responsible for IT strategy and technology management during his six-month tenure from April to September 2017.
Earlier in his career, Amit led IT functions at Inorbit Malls (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Encore Healthcare Corporation, where he played a key role in building and scaling technology operations to support expanding business needs.
As he begins his new chapter at Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd., Amit’s extensive experience across diverse industries positions him to accelerate technology-led innovation within one of India’s most influential media houses. His leadership is expected to further integrate digital transformation initiatives with the organisation’s long-standing legacy in journalism and publishing.
