Jio Financial Services Appoints Sandeep Khetan as Group Chief Risk Officer

Jio Financial Services has announced a key change in its senior management, appointing Sandeep Khetan as Group Chief Risk Officer following the resignation of S Anantharaman.

The company’s Board of Directors took note of the resignation of S Anantharaman, who will step down from his role as Group Chief Risk Officer effective March 20. He has been serving as part of the company’s senior management personnel (SMP). On the day of the announcement, shares of Jio Financial Services closed 0.1 per cent lower at Rs 262.35 per share.

Simultaneously, the Board approved the appointment of Sandeep Khetan as the new Group Chief Risk Officer for a five-year term beginning March 23. His appointment comes following recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Group Risk Management Committee, underscoring a structured leadership transition process.

A Chartered Accountant from the 2001 batch, Khetan brings over 24 years of banking experience with strong expertise across credit appraisal, credit risk, market risk, and operational risk. He joined Jio Financial Services on July 30, 2025, as Head of Integrated Risk Management. Since then, he has played a central role in building a unified risk governance architecture spanning the group’s lending, insurance, and payments businesses.

During his tenure, he has been instrumental in aligning risk frameworks across verticals and strengthening internal controls to establish a technology-enabled “second line of defence” for the organisation. His efforts have focused on integrating risk oversight with digital infrastructure to create a more resilient and forward-looking risk management ecosystem.

Before joining Jio Financial Services, Khetan spent more than 23 years at ICICI Bank, where he led multiple critical functions. His responsibilities spanned credit and policy, SME and MSME segments, supply chain financing, as well as retail and business banking distribution. Over the course of his career, he has managed large-scale operations, overseen complex credit portfolios, and driven the integration of predictive and technology-led risk management systems.

With his extensive background in banking and risk leadership, Khetan’s elevation to Group Chief Risk Officer is expected to further reinforce Jio Financial Services’ governance standards and risk oversight capabilities, supporting the company’s strategic growth ambitions across its diversified financial services portfolio.
