
Vonkayala Venkata Giri has been appointed Managing Director – Enterprise Data Platform (Data & AI) at BlackRock, marking a significant milestone in his long-standing career in data engineering and enterprise technology leadership.
In his new role, he will lead enterprise-scale data platform initiatives and AI-driven transformation programs across the organization. His mandate includes strengthening data engineering frameworks, governance models, distributed data architectures, and advanced analytics capabilities at a global level. The focus is on building resilient, high-performance data ecosystems that enable intelligent, data-driven decision-making across business functions.
Before joining BlackRock, Giri held dual leadership roles at KFin Technologies Ltd., serving as Chief Technology Officer from October 2022 to February 2026 and as Chief Data Officer from August 2020 to February 2026. During his tenure, he led large-scale digital modernization initiatives, redefined enterprise data strategy, and strengthened cloud-native and analytics-driven capabilities across the organization.
Earlier, he served as Chief Data Architect at Michelin, where he worked on strengthening enterprise data architecture and analytics foundations. Prior to that, as Senior Director – Data & Analytics at GE Digital, he architected and developed large-scale ETL pipelines integrating data from Oracle, SAP, and other enterprise systems into Hadoop ecosystems using Scala and Java. He also built and managed petabyte-scale computing clusters, enabling advanced analytics across distributed environments.
His earlier experience includes over five years at LinkedIn as Manager – Data Engineering and Operations in Bengaluru. There, he led big data and database teams, managed OLTP architecture, implemented active-active multi-colo replication strategies, and oversaw data infrastructure functions including incremental and bulk ETL, auditing, and monitoring.
Across roles at organizations such as Yahoo! and other global enterprises, Giri has developed deep expertise in big data architecture, Hadoop ecosystems, distributed computing, OLTP systems, and enterprise analytics. With more than two decades of experience spanning financial services, industrial technology, digital platforms, and global enterprises, he is recognized for building scalable, high-availability data platforms that support mission-critical operations.
At BlackRock, his leadership is expected to play a central role in advancing enterprise-wide Data & AI capabilities, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to intelligent automation, governance-driven analytics, and next-generation data platform innovation.
