Practo has announced the appointment of C. K. Mishra, former Union Health Secretary, as an independent director on its board. The appointment comes as the digital healthcare platform continues to expand its integrated healthcare ecosystem and strengthen governance at the board level.
An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with nearly 37 years of public service, Mishra retired in 2020 after holding several senior positions across sectors including health, environment, education, industry and power. During his tenure as Secretary at the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, he oversaw major national health programmes and managed large and complex public health systems across the country.
Practo said Mishra’s experience in building and governing large-scale infrastructure systems will support the company as it continues to scale its technology-driven healthcare platform.
Mishra joins a board that has recently added industry leaders including TVG Krishnamurthy and Alexander Kuruvilla. According to the company, the additions are intended to strengthen governance structures and support the long-term resilience of the platform as it expands its healthcare technology infrastructure globally.
Commenting on the development, Mishra said, “Practo has built a neutral, technology-driven ecosystem connecting patients, providers, and payors. I look forward to contributing to this journey.”
Practo founder and CEO Shashank ND welcomed the appointment and highlighted the significance of Mishra’s experience. “It is an honour for us that CK Mishra has chosen to join Practo’s Board and, notably, make this his first such association with a company in the healthcare space. His experience in building and governing large-scale systems will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our platform,” he said.
“In a sector where trust is paramount, neutrality becomes critical infrastructure, and his guidance will help us deepen that trust as we scale,” Shashank ND added.
Founded in 2008 by Shashank ND, Practo connects patients with more than 700,000 doctors and healthcare providers through its digital platform. The company also offers Insta, a hospital information management system used by over 500 clients across more than 1,200 healthcare facilities worldwide.
