The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) has committed 300 billion won (approximately $200 million) in financing to support artificial intelligence projects by LG Electronics, reinforcing South Korea’s push to strengthen its AI-driven industrial ecosystem.
The funding will primarily support LG Electronics’ AI-related initiatives, including overseas expansion projects such as AI-powered data center cooling solutions. These solutions are becoming increasingly critical as global demand for AI infrastructure continues to surge.
The financing will be provided under Korea Eximbank’s newly introduced “AX (Artificial Intelligence Transformation)” program, which is designed to help companies transition toward AI-led business models. The program offers preferential financial support, including low-interest loans and tailored funding structures to accelerate AI adoption and commercialization.
As part of the agreement, the bank will also extend support to small and medium-sized suppliers associated with LG’s projects. This includes export financing and overseas investment assistance, aimed at strengthening the broader supply chain and ensuring shared growth across the ecosystem.
The collaboration reflects a larger national strategy to position South Korea as a global leader in AI technologies. Korea Eximbank has already announced broader plans to invest billions into AI sectors over the coming years, indicating sustained government-backed momentum in this space.
With this investment, LG Electronics is expected to accelerate its AI commercialization efforts and expand its global footprint, particularly in infrastructure solutions that support next-generation computing and data-intensive applications.
