Broadcom has announced the appointment of Amie Thuener, a senior finance executive from Alphabet, as its next Chief Financial Officer. She will officially take over the role on June 12, 2026, replacing current CFO Kirsten Spears, who is set to retire after serving in the position since 2020.
Thuener currently serves as vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer at Alphabet, where she has played a key role in managing financial operations since 2018. Prior to that, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a managing director, specializing in transaction and accounting advisory services.
Commenting on the appointment, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan stated, “She will bring deep experience in financial reporting, corporate governance, AI-related transactions and leading complex, global organizations,” highlighting her relevance to the company’s evolving strategy.
As part of the transition plan, Spears will remain with Broadcom in an advisory capacity for nine months to ensure continuity in leadership. During her tenure, the company completed major strategic moves, including its $69 billion acquisition of VMware in 2023, which significantly expanded its presence in enterprise software.
The leadership change comes at a crucial time for Broadcom as it strengthens its position in the AI semiconductor market. The company focuses on developing custom chips in collaboration with major clients such as Google and OpenAI, rather than producing standalone AI processors.
With demand for AI infrastructure surging, Broadcom has projected its AI-related chip revenue to surpass $100 billion next year, although supply chain challenges continue to impact production across the industry.
The appointment of Thuener reflects Broadcom’s focus on scaling its financial and operational capabilities as it navigates rapid growth in the AI-driven technology landscape.
