
Shankha Chakrabartty has stepped into a strategic leadership role as Assistant Vice President – IT at HDFC Bank, marking a significant milestone in his career across technology and banking.
In this role, he will contribute to strengthening digital capabilities, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the bank’s ongoing focus on technology-driven transformation within India’s financial ecosystem.
Prior to this appointment, he served as IT Manager L3 – Digital Transformation at Bajaj Auto Credit Limited, where he led initiatives focused on improving system efficiencies and enabling scalable digital solutions.
Earlier, he spent close to five years at Wipro, holding multiple roles including Project Manager, Tower Lead – Service Delivery, and Service Delivery Lead. During this time, he managed large-scale IT projects, led service delivery functions, and drove transformation initiatives across global clients, including those in the banking, energy, and consumer sectors.
His professional journey also includes roles at Vara, 3i Infotech Ltd., and National Institute for Smart Government, where he built strong expertise in digital transformation, project management, and enterprise technology solutions.
He holds an MBA in Systems and Marketing along with a B.Tech in Computer Science, reflecting a strong blend of strategic and technical capabilities.
With deep experience in banking technology and IT leadership, Shankha Chakrabartty brings a forward-looking approach to his new role. His appointment is expected to further strengthen innovation, drive efficiency, and accelerate HDFC Bank’s journey toward digital excellence.
