Meta has quietly introduced a new standalone social networking app called “Forum,” aimed at creating community-driven conversations through a Reddit-style discussion experience powered by artificial intelligence features.
The app is designed around Facebook Groups and focuses on helping users engage in topic-based discussions and discover communities built around shared interests. According to the app description, Forum is a “dedicated space built for deeper discussions, real answers and communities you care about.”
Currently available only for iPhone users in the United States, Forum can be downloaded free of cost through Apple’s App Store. The platform has not yet been released in markets including India, and Meta has not officially announced a broader global rollout timeline.
Unlike Facebook’s traditional social feed format, Forum appears to emphasise discussion threads, community engagement, and conversational interactions similar to platforms such as Reddit. The application also includes integrated AI-driven tools, reflecting Meta’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence across its ecosystem of products and services.
The app was reportedly first identified by social media consultant Matt Navarra before gaining wider attention online. Meta has so far not issued a formal launch statement regarding the platform.
Forum is one of the latest standalone applications introduced by Meta in recent weeks as the company explores new social media formats beyond its core platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The move comes as the company accelerates efforts to experiment with niche social experiences and AI-powered user engagement tools.
Industry observers believe the launch signals Meta’s broader strategy to expand into specialised community-based social networking, particularly at a time when users are increasingly seeking focused online spaces for discussions and authentic interactions.
The company’s recent push toward standalone applications may also be linked to improvements in AI-driven development efficiencies, allowing Meta to test and launch new products more rapidly. While details about Forum’s future expansion remain limited, the app highlights Meta’s continued interest in reshaping digital communities through AI-enhanced social experiences.
