Broadcom, Apple Extend Custom Chip Partnership Through 2031

Broadcom and Apple have extended their long-standing semiconductor partnership through 2031, signing new multi-year agreements to jointly develop and supply custom application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) silicon for future generations of Apple devices.

The renewed agreements were disclosed in a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 6 July, reaffirming Broadcom’s role as one of Apple’s key semiconductor partners. While the companies confirmed the extension of their collaboration, they did not disclose financial terms, product categories, or expected shipment volumes.

Under the agreement, Broadcom will continue designing and supplying custom ASICs that power multiple generations of Apple products. The partnership reflects Apple’s continued strategy of working closely with strategic semiconductor partners to develop highly optimized chips tailored for its hardware ecosystem.

The announcement comes as demand for custom silicon continues to grow across the technology industry, driven by increasing requirements for artificial intelligence (AI), on-device machine learning, high-performance computing, wireless connectivity, and energy-efficient system design. Technology companies are increasingly investing in custom chip architectures to improve performance, reduce power consumption, and deliver differentiated user experiences.

Industry analysts cited by Reuters estimate that Apple contributes approximately 20% of Broadcom’s annual revenue, underscoring the strategic importance of the relationship for both companies.

Separately, Broadcom recently reported quarterly revenue of USD 15 billion, supported by continued growth in AI-related semiconductor demand. The company said revenue from its AI semiconductor business increased 46% year over year to USD 4.4 billion, reflecting rising deployments of AI infrastructure, hyperscale data centres, and custom silicon solutions.

Broadcom is a global semiconductor and infrastructure software company that develops networking, broadband, wireless connectivity, enterprise storage, and custom ASIC solutions for cloud providers, enterprises, and consumer electronics manufacturers. The company continues to expand its portfolio of AI, networking, and custom silicon technologies to support next-generation computing and digital infrastructure.
