Torrent Power has appointed Vikas Poddar as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing more than 25 years of experience in finance and leadership across the energy, telecommunications and consumer sectors. His appointment adds extensive financial management and strategic planning experience to the company’s leadership team.
Before joining Torrent Power, Poddar served as Chief Financial Officer at Indus Towers Limited, where he led the finance function of one of India’s major telecommunications infrastructure companies. His experience at Indus Towers included responsibility for financial leadership in a large-scale and operationally complex business.
Poddar has also held several senior finance positions at Vodafone, building experience across financial planning, decision support and business performance. His roles included Head of FP&A and Decision Support in India, Regional Finance Controller and Finance Director in the UK.
During his tenure with Vodafone, Poddar was involved in areas including strategic planning, digital transformation and financial performance. His experience across different finance leadership responsibilities has provided him with exposure to both operational finance and broader business decision-making.
Earlier in his career, Poddar held finance management positions at ITC Limited, adding experience from the consumer sector to his professional background.
Across more than two decades, his career has therefore covered multiple industries, including telecommunications, consumer businesses and energy. This cross-sector experience includes financial planning and analysis, financial control, strategic decision support and business performance management.
Poddar is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the National University of Singapore. His combination of professional qualifications and senior finance experience forms the foundation of his new role at Torrent Power.
As CFO, Poddar will bring his experience in financial leadership, planning and business performance to Torrent Power. His previous responsibilities across large organisations such as Indus Towers and Vodafone have given him experience in managing finance functions while working closely with business leadership on strategic priorities.
His appointment marks another step in his career across major Indian and international businesses, with his latest role bringing his finance leadership experience to the power sector.
