Harish Bharti Elevated to Chief Technology Officer at IBM Consulting, Asia Pacific

Harish Bharti has been elevated to Chief Technology Officer for IBM Consulting, Asia Pacific, taking on a broader technology leadership mandate after a long tenure with IBM. In his new role, Bharti will focus on helping enterprises across the Asia Pacific region address complex technology challenges, scale artificial intelligence initiatives and build technology solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.

Bharti announced the leadership move through a recent update, describing the new position as an opportunity to support enterprises and banks across the region as they increasingly adopt AI and rethink how technology can operate at scale. He highlighted a particular focus on helping teams develop agentic AI systems that can operate reliably in production environments, moving beyond experimental demonstrations toward practical enterprise applications.

Before taking on the regional CTO responsibility, Bharti served as IBM Consulting CTO, Asia Pacific, alongside his responsibilities as an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor. His career at IBM has involved technology strategy, enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, application modernisation and innovation, giving him extensive experience in designing and implementing technology solutions for complex business environments.

During his tenure at IBM, Bharti has held several senior technical positions. His previous responsibilities have included serving as Chief Architect, Global Solutioning Center of Excellence, and Lead Architect for the Application Innovation Services Cloud Program. These roles have involved working across enterprise technology, architecture and cloud-based transformation initiatives.

Bharti’s technical background extends across cloud-native technologies and data architecture. Red Hat has previously described him as an IBM Distinguished Engineer with more than 22 years of experience in designing business solutions using a wide range of technologies. His areas of expertise include cloud-native architecture, data architecture and the development of solutions for complex technology environments.

His contribution to IBM’s innovation ecosystem is also reflected in his work as a Master Inventor. Bharti’s professional profile highlights a substantial patent portfolio covering technologies including cloud, blockchain, cognitive computing, microservices, mobility, digital integration and the Internet of Things. More recently, he shared that he had reached 129 filed patents, of which 91 had been granted, with one of his latest inventions focused on AI-driven insights for edge computing.

Bharti has also contributed to technology research and innovation through patents associated with IBM. Public patent records show his involvement in inventions covering areas such as multi-cloud application optimisation, event processing, observability, edge computing and AI-related technologies. Several of these patents have been granted as recently as 2026, highlighting his continued involvement in technology innovation.

Earlier in his career, Bharti worked as a SOA Architect at Walmart and began his professional journey as a Software Engineer with LTI – Larsen & Toubro Infotech. His experience across different technology environments before and during his IBM career has contributed to his expertise in enterprise architecture, systems modernisation and emerging technologies.

In his new role, Bharti will be responsible for supporting IBM Consulting’s technology agenda across the Asia Pacific region. His focus will include helping organisations address complex technology problems, adopt AI at scale and develop agentic AI capabilities that can move from experimentation into dependable production environments.

The elevation comes at a time when enterprises across Asia Pacific are increasing investments in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and modern technology architectures. As organisations move from initial AI experimentation toward broader implementation, technology leaders are increasingly required to connect innovation with enterprise-scale execution and business value.

Bharti’s elevation brings together his extensive IBM experience, technical leadership, architecture expertise and long-standing contribution to innovation. His new regional CTO mandate will position him to play a key role in helping IBM Consulting’s clients navigate the next phase of enterprise technology transformation and AI adoption across Asia Pacific.
