AI Interactive Content Startup Flam Raises $40 Million in Series B Round

Bengaluru-based AI interactive content company Flam has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by QED Investors, as the startup looks to expand its artificial intelligence capabilities, broaden its product portfolio and scale its enterprise business globally.

The funding round also saw participation from Claypond Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan and Shah Rukh Khan, along with existing investors RTP Global and Dovetail. The latest investment gives Flam additional capital to increase its research and development efforts around AI models and expand the range of interactive content products it offers to businesses.

Flam said the fresh capital will primarily be used to invest in AI model research and development, expand its product suite and scale enterprise sales in international markets. The company is also looking to strengthen its AI research team and continue developing technology that allows businesses to create interactive digital experiences.

Founded in 2021 by Shourya Agarwal, Malhar Patil and Amit Gaiki, Flam develops AI-powered interactive content for enterprises. Its technology is designed for use across areas including marketing, product visualisation, learning and development, entertainment, fan engagement, customer support and sales.

The company has developed several products covering interactive video, image and video generation, and 3D content. Its Flicks product enables interactive videos in which people, products or scenes can be changed during playback. Flam says the technology uses a patented compression algorithm and can be delivered programmatically with a 50-millisecond time-to-first-buffer.

Another product, Forge, is an editing model that uses image references to modify specified elements. Flam also offers Airboards, which provides high-fidelity 3D content through a camera-based interface supporting touch, voice and haptic interactions. According to the company, its 3D streaming technology can load Airboards in 300 milliseconds without requiring users to install an application.

The company also has Fable, an image-to-video model that generates assets as native alpha-channel videos. Flam said it currently holds more than 15 patents covering its technology stack.

The startup has also reported significant enterprise traction. According to Flam, it has onboarded more than 100 enterprise customers in the past six quarters, including companies such as Google, Reliance and Hyundai. The company has been developing its platform around the idea that interactive content can offer users a more engaging way to interact with digital experiences than conventional one-way content.

Shourya Agarwal, Founder and CEO of Flam, said the company believes content has evolved from text to images and then video, while interaction has largely remained one-way between creator and viewer. Flam is positioning interactive content as the next stage of this evolution, with its technology aimed at making interactive experiences easier to build and deploy at enterprise scale.

The latest funding comes as businesses increasingly experiment with AI-generated content and interactive digital experiences across marketing, commerce, customer engagement and other functions. Flam is seeking to combine generative AI with interactive formats so that enterprises can create digital experiences that allow users to engage with content rather than simply consume it.

With the new capital, Flam plans to increase investment in AI research, expand its product capabilities and strengthen its international enterprise sales operations. The company is also looking to commercialise its underlying AI models as it continues to develop its technology platform.

The $40 million Series B round marks a significant funding milestone for Flam and provides the company with additional resources to scale its technology and enterprise operations. As AI increasingly becomes part of digital content creation and customer experiences, Flam is positioning its interactive content platform to serve businesses looking to move beyond conventional digital formats.
