Satish Thakur has joined Scapia as Head of Engineering and AI, taking on a technology leadership role at the travel fintech platform. Thakur announced his new position through a LinkedIn update, sharing that he has started his new role with the company.
In his new position, Thakur will lead engineering and artificial intelligence initiatives at Scapia as the company continues to expand its technology platform across travel and financial services. The role brings together responsibility for the company’s engineering function with its growing focus on AI-driven technology and digital experiences.
Scapia operates as a travel fintech platform that combines travel services and financial products within an integrated digital ecosystem. The company offers travel bookings alongside co-branded credit cards and rewards, allowing users to earn Scapia Coins through eligible spending and redeem them for travel-related purchases.
The platform has expanded beyond its original travel-focused credit proposition to include a wider range of services. These include flights, hotels and stays, trains, buses, visas, experiences, travel shopping and financial services. Scapia also provides travel rewards and related benefits through its partnerships with financial institutions.
Scapia has also been expanding its payments capabilities. The company recently launched Scapia Pay, an in-app UPI payments product that enables users of its co-branded RuPay credit cards to earn rewards on eligible UPI transactions. The platform is designed to bring everyday payments and travel rewards together within the Scapia ecosystem.
The company currently works with banking partners including Federal Bank and BOBCARD for its co-branded credit card offerings. Scapia’s Federal Bank credit card is available across Visa and RuPay networks, with the platform integrating spending, rewards and travel bookings through its app.
Thakur’s appointment comes as Scapia continues to build technology capabilities around its expanding product ecosystem. With engineering and AI now forming part of his leadership mandate, his role will involve supporting the technology systems that power the company’s travel, payments, rewards and financial-product experiences.
The company has been adding new technology-enabled features across its platform, including UPI payments, personalised travel planning, travel experiences and tools designed to simplify the booking and rewards journey. Its platform also supports travel services such as flights, accommodation, train and bus bookings, visa services and other travel-related offerings.
For Scapia, engineering and AI are increasingly relevant as the platform brings multiple travel and financial services together in a single digital experience. The company’s expansion across payments, credit, rewards and travel services creates a broad technology environment requiring scalable digital infrastructure and continued product development.
Thakur’s move into the Head of Engineering and AI role therefore adds dedicated leadership across two important areas of Scapia’s technology organisation. His mandate will come as the company continues to develop its integrated travel and fintech platform and introduce new technology-led products and services for its users.
The appointment marks a new phase in Thakur’s career and places him in a key technology leadership position at Scapia as the company continues to expand its travel-fintech ecosystem and strengthen the technology behind its growing range of products and services.
