Sonata Information Technology Limited, the domestic business of Bengaluru-headquartered Sonata Software, has signed a five-year strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services to pursue cloud and artificial-intelligence modernisation projects across India.
The two companies will operate a joint go-to-market programme targeting banking and financial services, retail, manufacturing, information technology and healthcare. Sonata will invest in dedicated AWS sales, presales, technical and delivery teams, increasing the personnel and implementation capacity available for large Indian migration and modernisation programmes.
The collaboration covers cloud migration, application and data modernisation, platform engineering and generative-AI deployments. The companies plan to increase enterprise adoption of Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service and AWS Transform. They will also draw on AWS migration-acceleration and managed-services programmes for complex customer environments.
For Sonata, the agreement formalises a multiyear expansion of its AWS-focused domestic business. The company achieved AWS Premier Tier Services Partner status in February 2026 and added the AWS Migration and Modernization Competency in April. It already held AWS competencies covering generative AI and DevOps, supported by certified consulting and engineering teams.
Sonata’s AI portfolio includes the Harmoni.AI enterprise platform, AgentBridge for governance and observability of agentic workflows, AgentBuilder for creating reusable enterprise agents and an internal marketplace for modular agents. The AWS relationship gives the company a defined infrastructure and model-services route for deploying these tools within regulated and operationally complex Indian enterprises.
The agreement does not include a disclosed contract value or guaranteed revenue commitment. Its commercial structure is based on shared market development, service capability and customer acquisition rather than a single outsourcing engagement. Sonata’s planned investments in specialist teams will therefore be matched against opportunities generated through the joint sales pipeline.
Sujit Mohanty, managing director and chief executive of Sonata’s domestic business, characterised the agreement as part of the company’s effort to expand its cloud operations in India. AWS executives identified legacy modernisation, data foundations and production AI as the main areas in which the two companies intend to combine their capabilities.
The deal also follows AWS’s broader capital programme for India. Amazon has outlined more than $21 billion in Indian AI and cloud infrastructure investment for 2026 through 2030, including expansion around its Mumbai and Hyderabad cloud regions. That infrastructure programme provides the underlying capacity for Indian organisations seeking local cloud deployment, high-performance AI services and data-residency options.
