Ravi Mani Joins Nokia as Global Chief Information Security Officer

Ravi Mani has joined Nokia as Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), taking on a leadership role focused on cybersecurity as the company continues to strengthen its technology and security capabilities.

Mani brings extensive experience in information security, data privacy, IT risk, regulatory compliance and technology. Before joining Nokia, he spent more than six years at Quest Diagnostics, where he served as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Security Officer. Quest Diagnostics’ India careers page also identifies Mani as its VP and Chief Information Security Officer.

During his tenure at Quest Diagnostics, Mani was responsible for developing the company’s cybersecurity strategy and addressing security risks across its business operations. His work included areas such as threat intelligence, security technologies, regulatory compliance and organisational security capabilities. He also provided strategic direction and advice to the company’s leadership and board.

Mani joined Quest Diagnostics shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic and led cybersecurity through a period of significant operational and technology changes. He also worked on preparing the organisation for emerging opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence.

Before Quest Diagnostics, Mani served as Global CISO and Distinguished Engineer for IBM’s Cloud and Watson Platform business. At IBM, he led the cloud security and privacy organisation and worked on cloud security strategy, security risk and operational models. He also supported secure public-cloud transformation initiatives for large enterprises across financial services, healthcare and the public sector.

Mani has also worked across technology and leadership roles earlier in his career. Public records show that he held a Senior Vice President role in the Organisational Excellence Group at iGATE Corporation.

His professional work has covered cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning and digital transformation. Fortinet’s profile of Mani notes that he holds 10 US patents and has published work across several technology disciplines.

At Nokia, Mani takes on the Global Chief Information Security Officer role as the company continues to operate across mobile, network infrastructure, cloud and other critical technologies. Nokia’s Group Leadership Team currently includes President and CEO Justin Hotard, Chief Technology and AI Officer Pallavi Mahajan, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer Esa Niinimäki and other senior executives.

Mani said he was “Excited and grateful” to join Nokia as Global Chief Information Security Officer and described the move as a new chapter focused on learning, contributing, building relationships and making an impact as Nokia works across cybersecurity, technology and innovation.

Reflecting on his previous role, Mani said his more than six years at Quest Diagnostics had been “deeply fulfilling” personally and professionally. He also highlighted the experience of leading cybersecurity through the unprecedented challenges created by COVID-19 and subsequently helping the organisation address the rapidly evolving opportunities and risks associated with AI.

With his move to Nokia, Mani brings experience spanning enterprise cybersecurity, cloud security, risk management, AI and digital transformation to the global CISO role.
