Aditya Vardhan Takes on Expanded Role as Vice President IT and Group CISO at Jindal Steel

Aditya Vardhan has taken on an expanded role as Vice President IT and Group Chief Information Security Officer at Jindal Steel. In his new position, he will oversee information technology and cybersecurity leadership for the company, bringing together his experience in IT, cyber resilience, information security and business leadership.

Vardhan has more than two decades of experience across information technology, cybersecurity, risk management and business operations. His career has included leadership roles at organisations such as Quess Corp, PepsiCo, Adani Group, Cairn India, CMS IT Services and Larsen & Toubro.

Prior to taking on his current expanded mandate, Vardhan had been serving as Chief Information Security Officer at Jindal Steel & Power. He joined the company in 2022 from Quess Corp, where he was AVP and Head of Cyber Security & Risk. At Jindal Steel, his responsibilities included driving cybersecurity strategy, security governance, engineering and operations across IT and operational technology systems.

Vardhan’s earlier career includes a long association with enterprise IT and cybersecurity. He began his IT career at Larsen & Toubro, where he worked on IT infrastructure and operations. He later moved into cybersecurity at PepsiCo, where he handled security operations in India before taking responsibility for Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

He subsequently joined the Adani Group, where he led information security initiatives, followed by a stint at Cairn India. In 2014, Vardhan moved into the technology services side of the industry as Practice Head – Information Security at CMS IT Services. He later joined Quess Corp in 2018 as AVP and Head of Cyber Security & Risk, where he helped establish the company’s cybersecurity business.

Vardhan’s experience spans cybersecurity strategy, cyber resilience, information security, risk management, IT operations, privacy and operational technology security. His professional profile also highlights experience across GCC IT centre-of-excellence operations and business leadership.

He holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business and has completed multiple professional certifications, including CISSP, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC and CPISI. His professional profile also lists an ITIL certification.

Jindal Steel, formerly known as Jindal Steel & Power Limited, is an integrated steel company with operations spanning mining, captive power and steel production. The company currently identifies itself as Jindal Steel on its corporate website.

With his expanded mandate as Vice President IT and Group Chief Information Security Officer, Vardhan will take on a broader leadership responsibility covering both IT and group-level cybersecurity at Jindal Steel. His experience across technology, security, business operations and critical infrastructure will form part of this wider role.
