Januar Wayong has joined Standard Chartered as Chief Information Officer (CIO), Cash, marking a new chapter in his technology leadership career at the bank.
Wayong announced his new position on October 8, 2026, through a LinkedIn post, stating that he had started a new role as Chief Information Officer, Cash at Standard Chartered.
Based in Singapore, Wayong has been associated with Standard Chartered in technology leadership roles and has worked across the bank’s engineering and technology organisation. His professional experience at the bank includes work across technology, engineering and digital capabilities.
In his new role as CIO, Cash, Wayong will be part of the technology leadership supporting Standard Chartered’s cash business. The role comes within the bank’s broader technology organisation, which supports its businesses and global operations.
Wayong has been actively involved in Standard Chartered’s engineering initiatives. He has also participated in the bank’s global engineering programmes, including its Accelerate engineering conference, where he has supported initiatives focused on engineering, artificial intelligence and technology innovation.
His appointment comes as Standard Chartered continues to strengthen and modernise its technology capabilities across its businesses. In August 2026, the bank announced changes to its Group Management Team, with Tanuj Kapilashrami taking responsibility for non-client-facing operations including payments and transaction processing, while Noelle Eder continued to lead the bank’s technology teams as Group Head, Technology.
Standard Chartered operates across 55 of the world’s most dynamic markets and has been investing in technology and digital capabilities as part of its broader strategy. The bank’s technology organisation supports its businesses across markets and functions.
With his new mandate, Wayong will focus on technology leadership for the Cash business at Standard Chartered, bringing his experience within the bank’s technology organisation to the role.
