Goldman Sachs Sells ₹168.67 Crore Worth of Eternal Shares; BofA Securities Buys Stake

Goldman Sachs has sold 53,37,584 shares of Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, for ₹168.67 crore through a block deal, with BofA Securities purchasing the same number of shares.

According to exchange data reported by Entrackr on October 16, Goldman Sachs sold the shares at ₹316 apiece. BofA Securities acquired the shares at the same price. The transaction represented approximately 0.05% of Eternal’s paid-up equity.

The deal follows a series of large share transactions involving Eternal in recent months. On August 31, investors sold nearly ₹3,265 crore worth of the company’s shares through bulk deals.

BNP Paribas Financial Markets sold 5.09 crore shares valued at ₹1,670.86 crore, while Integrated Core Strategies (Asia), an affiliate of Millennium Management, sold 4.86 crore shares worth ₹1,593.96 crore during those transactions.

Eternal operates Zomato’s food delivery business and Blinkit, its quick-commerce platform. Blinkit competes with Swiggy Instamart and Zepto in India’s quick-commerce market, where companies are expanding their store networks to improve delivery capacity.

The company’s financial performance has also shown substantial revenue growth. Eternal reported revenue from operations of ₹20,211 crore in the first quarter of FY27, compared with ₹7,167 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier. Net profit increased to ₹92 crore from ₹25 crore year-on-year, although it declined from ₹174 crore in the March quarter.

For FY26, revenue from operations rose to ₹54,364 crore from ₹20,243 crore in FY25. However, net profit declined to ₹366 crore from ₹527 crore over the same period.

At the time of Entrackr’s report, Eternal shares were trading at ₹323.60 as of 9:37 a.m., giving the company a market capitalisation of ₹3,11,947 crore.

The block deal records a transfer of shares between institutional market participants. The disclosed transaction data does not establish the reasons behind Goldman Sachs’ sale or BofA Securities’ purchase.

The transaction adds to recent institutional trading activity in Eternal shares as the company continues to operate across food delivery and quick commerce through its Zomato and Blinkit businesses.
