Kavish Mittal has announced his appointment as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Paytm Insurance, marking a new milestone in his cybersecurity career. Sharing the development on LinkedIn, Mittal said the move fulfilled a professional goal he had set in 2025 to step into a CISO position.
In his announcement, Mittal highlighted a mandate to lead cyber resilience and emphasised customer protection as a priority. He credited his professional assignments, project experience and continued learning with preparing him for the leadership responsibility.
Mittal’s professional background includes experience at Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL), according to his publicly available LinkedIn profile. In an earlier post, he shared that he had received the organisation’s Hall of Fame recognition, presented by Group CISO Amit Malhotra. He acknowledged the guidance of Surinder Kumar and the contribution of his team to that achievement.
His academic background includes studies at SCIT–Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology between 2016 and 2018. His profile lists academic projects involving database auditing, penetration testing and information security risk assessment using the NIST 800-30 framework. These assignments included examining website vulnerabilities against OWASP testing guidelines and assessing information risks in a healthcare setting.
Mittal also holds an ISO 27001 Lead Auditor–Information Security certification from BSI, issued in November 2018, according to his profile. His documented background combines exposure to security assessment, audit practices and work within a digital payments organisation.
Reflecting on the appointment, Mittal thanked the leadership for its trust and the opportunity to lead cyber resilience. He also acknowledged colleagues for challenging and supporting him throughout his career, describing security as a collective responsibility. His announcement placed particular emphasis on the role of teamwork, sustained execution and professional development in reaching the position.
The move brings Mittal into the CISO role at Paytm Insurance with a stated focus on protecting customers and supporting the organisation’s next phase. His announcement did not specify an effective date or detail individual security programmes.
