Xtelify, the digital innovation unit of Bharti Airtel, has unveiled Airtel Cloud, a sovereign cloud platform designed to handle up to 140 crore transactions per minute while reducing cloud expenses by as much as 40%. Hosted entirely within next-generation Indian data centres, the platform ensures complete data sovereignty and operational control.
“All controls of our cloud will reside strictly within the country, ensuring zero possibility of any entity outside India being able to access any part of this data or its workings,” said Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel. This commitment aligns with India’s rising focus on data localisation and the need for secure, indigenous cloud infrastructure.
Airtel Cloud already supports over 590 million customer touchpoints and provides both Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions. The platform includes features like AI-powered provisioning, advanced connectivity, sustainable infrastructure, and is backed by a team of 300 certified cloud professionals. One of its key advantages is zero vendor lock-in, giving clients full flexibility and control.
Beyond India, Airtel is expanding its cloud innovations globally through collaborations with international partners such as Singtel, Globe Telecom, and Airtel Africa. These partnerships aim to deliver AI-driven solutions for telecom operators worldwide.
Singtel Singapore CEO Tian Chong Ng said, “This platform enables us to reimagine our workflows with AI at the core, improving both efficiency and customer service.” Similarly, Globe Telecom is leveraging the platform to enhance customer experiences, while Airtel Africa is using it to support 1.5 lakh employees across 14 countries, improving fraud prevention and enabling real-time, omnichannel engagement.
Already powering Bharti Airtel’s internal applications, Airtel Cloud has proven itself as a secure, scalable, and high-performance platform. With its sovereign structure and AI capabilities, the platform is poised to become a cornerstone of India’s digital transformation, offering a trusted cloud alternative tailored for the country’s growing technology and regulatory demands.
