Alibaba launches Accio Work agentic AI platform to automate business operations for global enterprises

Alibaba has unveiled a new agentic artificial intelligence platform called Accio Work, aimed at transforming how businesses manage complex operations through automation. The announcement, made on March , 2026, highlights the company’s growing focus on enterprise AI solutions, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises seeking efficient and scalable digital tools.

Accio Work is designed as a plug-and-play “AI taskforce” that can autonomously execute multi-step business processes without requiring coding or manual setup. Unlike traditional AI systems that assist with isolated tasks, this platform enables coordinated AI agents to handle end-to-end workflows, making it easier for businesses to streamline operations such as data management, decision-making, and process execution.

Alibaba emphasized that the platform is positioned as a specialized business-to-business solution rather than a general-purpose AI tool. The company has incorporated strict safeguards to ensure security and reliability, particularly for high-risk activities. Any actions involving financial transactions, payments, or access to sensitive data require explicit user permissions, reflecting growing concerns around the risks of autonomous AI systems.

The launch of Accio Work comes shortly after Alibaba introduced another enterprise-focused AI platform, Wukong, which can coordinate multiple AI agents to perform tasks such as document editing, spreadsheet management, meeting transcription, and research within a unified interface. Together, these developments indicate Alibaba’s broader push to build a comprehensive ecosystem of AI-powered digital assistants for enterprise use.

In parallel with these product launches, Alibaba is restructuring its artificial intelligence operations to strengthen its focus on next-generation AI technologies. The company has separated its AI initiatives from its cloud computing business and established a new unit called the Alibaba Token Hub, which will focus on building high-capacity AI systems capable of handling more complex and data-intensive tasks.

The move reflects intensifying competition in the global AI landscape, particularly in the emerging field of agentic AI, where systems are designed to act autonomously and perform complex decision-making tasks. Alibaba’s strategy centers on combining specialized AI models with human oversight to balance efficiency with control, aiming to deliver the benefits of automation while minimizing risks associated with fully autonomous systems.

With the launch of Accio Work, Alibaba is positioning itself at the forefront of enterprise AI innovation, targeting businesses that require secure, scalable, and intelligent automation solutions. As demand for AI-driven productivity tools continues to grow, the company’s focus on agent-based systems could play a key role in shaping how organizations adopt and integrate artificial intelligence into their daily operations.
