Apple Tests Next-Generation Siri with Internal ChatGPT-Like App Veritas

Apple is quietly preparing the next evolution of Siri through an internal, ChatGPT-like application codenamed Veritas. The tool, developed for Apple’s AI division, is designed to simulate real-world conversations, identify bugs, and refine the virtual assistant ahead of its expected launch in early 2026. The initiative reflects Apple’s broader efforts to advance its AI capabilities and remain competitive in the rapidly evolving voice assistant market.

According to Bloomberg, Veritas functions similarly to other popular chatbots, allowing engineers to manage multiple conversations, follow up with queries, and experiment with prompts and responses. Insights and feedback gathered from these internal tests are being used to fine-tune Siri’s next-generation underlying system, called Linwood, which relies heavily on large language models. The system combines Apple’s proprietary Foundation Models with third-party AI models, aiming to deliver more natural, context-aware, and intelligent interactions for users.

Originally, Apple had planned to debut the revamped Siri with iOS 18, but the release has been delayed to March 2026. Alongside this software overhaul, a visual redesign of Siri is expected later next year, along with AI-powered smart home devices and a suite of additional AI-driven features across Apple’s ecosystem. These enhancements signal a major push to integrate AI more deeply into Apple’s hardware and software offerings.

With competitors like Google and Samsung Electronics rapidly advancing their own AI capabilities, Apple’s focus on internal testing demonstrates a deliberate strategy to perfect the technology before public rollout. By keeping Veritas within the company, Apple is prioritizing controlled experimentation and refinement, ensuring that the new Siri can deliver seamless and reliable experiences for millions of users.

The development of Veritas and Linwood represents one of Apple’s most significant steps toward reinventing Siri, potentially transforming the virtual assistant from a reactive tool into a more intelligent, conversational companion. If successful, these upgrades could redefine how users interact with Siri, positioning Apple to regain momentum in the competitive AI-driven voice assistant market.
