Arun Kakatkar has been named Global Chief People Officer at Cipla, bringing with him decades of leadership experience in people strategy, organisational transformation, and culture building. In this role, he will be responsible for advancing Cipla’s people and culture agenda by aligning talent strategies with business priorities, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture, and enhancing leadership capabilities to support the company’s long-term growth goals.
Before joining Cipla, Kakatkar served as a Human Resources Leader at Microsoft, where his work focused on shaping inclusive cultures, building high-performing leadership teams, and integrating people strategies with business outcomes. Prior to that, he was President and Chief of Strategy and Organization at Kalyani Group / Bharat Forge, leading enterprise-wide transformation and organisational development efforts. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade with TE Connectivity as Managing Director India and Vice President Human Resources Asia Pacific. His career also includes senior HR leadership roles at Flex, Ingersoll Rand, Foseco (Castrol BP), and Black & Decker, giving him deep expertise across global enterprises, manufacturing, technology, and diversified industries.
Cipla announced that Kakatkar will lead the company’s global people agenda, encompassing talent strategy, workforce planning, leadership development, and organisational culture initiatives across its international operations. His appointment is effective March 17, 2026, and he will serve as part of the company’s senior management team.
The company highlighted that Kakatkar brings extensive experience from senior human resources roles in which he has overseen strategic talent management, organisational design, performance and rewards, and people operations. At Cipla, he will focus on building capability frameworks aligned with business priorities and advancing inclusive people practices.
This leadership change comes as pharmaceutical companies such as Cipla are increasingly recalibrating people strategies to support innovation, navigate regulatory complexity, and drive global growth. Industry observers note that HR leadership is gaining strategic importance as firms compete for specialised talent and seek consistency across dispersed teams.
Cipla, one of India’s leading drugmakers with a growing global footprint, has been investing in organisational capability as it expands across markets and therapeutic areas. The appointment of Kakatkar underscores the company’s continued emphasis on people leadership as a key business enabler, particularly in innovation-driven environments.
Looking ahead, the measure of Kakatkar’s success will be how effectively he helps Cipla scale its people practices globally while maintaining cultural coherence and readiness for future growth.
