Babitha B P has joined the State Bank of India (SBI) as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer – General Manager (Infrastructure Security & Special Projects) — a key leadership appointment that reflects the bank’s growing emphasis on cybersecurity, resilience, and secure digital transformation.
Babitha brings more than 20 years of deep expertise in information security, IT strategy, and risk governance across the Indian banking and financial services ecosystem.
Prior to joining SBI, she served as Vice President – System Audit at Reserve Bank Information Technology Pvt. Ltd. (ReBIT), where she was responsible for driving key system audits and cybersecurity assurance in alignment with RBI’s regulatory mandates.
She previously had a decade-long journey at CSB Bank Limited, where she played a pivotal role in building and strengthening the bank’s cybersecurity function.
As Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for over four years, Babitha led the bank’s end-to-end information security, cyber risk, data protection, and regulatory compliance functions.
Before being elevated to CISO, she served as Senior Manager (IT) for four years and Chief Manager (IT) for six years, during which she led critical initiatives in IT infrastructure, governance, and security architecture.
A seasoned technology leader, Babitha’s experience spans both regulatory oversight and hands-on operational leadership. At SBI, she will focus on infrastructure security, strategic cyber initiatives, and high-impact special projects critical to safeguarding India’s largest bank.
Her appointment signals SBI’s continued investment in building world-class cybersecurity leadership at a time of rapidly evolving digital threats and technology adoption.
