Carrefour India Appoints Amritraj Kaur as Head of Marketing Ahead of 2026 Store Launch

Carrefour India has announced the appointment of Amritraj Kaur as Head of Marketing, marking a significant step in the French retailer’s return to the Indian market. Kaur brings over 17 years of experience in marketing, brand building, and omnichannel retail strategy, having worked across India’s leading retail, FMCG, and food companies.

Before joining Carrefour, Kaur served as Chief Business Officer at BnC Foods Pvt. Ltd. (From The House of Chalu), where she played a pivotal role in driving brand growth and shaping business strategy. Her career also includes senior leadership positions such as Head of Marketing & CRM and Senior Manager – Brand Marketing at Best Price Flipkart Wholesale, Senior Manager – Marketing at Walmart, Marketing – North at Future Group India, and marketing roles at AMIRA Pure Foods Private Limited and Spencer’s Retail.

“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Carrefour India’s relaunch,” Kaur said. “The brand’s strong global roots and clear customer promise provide an excellent platform to deliver meaningful impact and learn alongside a talented team.” Her appointment takes effect from December 2025, and she will be based in Gurugram, leading marketing strategies across Carrefour India’s operations.

Carrefour’s re-entry into India, nearly 12 years after exiting the market, is slated for April 2026 with the opening of its first store. The company is focusing on building a consumer-centric, omnichannel-first approach, with marketing as a key pillar. Kaur’s extensive experience in both Indian and global retail environments positions her to spearhead Carrefour’s brand strategy, loyalty programs, and digital marketing initiatives.

A seasoned marketer with deep expertise in omni-channel retail, Kaur has delivered measurable growth across wholesale and consumer-facing businesses. At LOTS Wholesale Solutions, she led the launch of the company’s first two-tier loyalty program, introduced WebEngage-based marketing automation, strengthened digital customer acquisition, and supported store openings in Sarita Vihar and Greater Noida, contributing to 6–7% year-on-year growth in customer transactions.

During her tenure at Best Price (Walmart / Flipkart Wholesale), she oversaw pan-India store launches and ROI-driven marketing for a business generating over ₹3,500 crore annually, while implementing cost efficiencies through vendor consolidation. At Future Group, she managed regional marketing across 24 Big Bazaar and fbb stores with turnovers exceeding ₹500 crore, deepening her understanding of mass retail and regional consumer behavior.
Kaur’s early years at AMIRA Pure Foods are notable for product innovation, including launching India’s first single-serve basmati rice packs—a move that drove rapid market adoption and enhanced international visibility. Across her career, she has worked at the intersection of category development, CRM, MarTech, GTM strategy, and store-led growth, consistently building high-performing teams and fostering strong workplace cultures.

Carrefour India’s upcoming strategy emphasizes large-format retail, private labels, value-driven assortments, and integrated supply chains. Kaur will play a central role in building the company’s marketing foundation, focusing on customer engagement, loyalty, data-driven decision-making, and a cohesive omnichannel presence, ensuring relevance and consistency ahead of the first store launch.
