Celonis to Triple India Workforce by 2027, Positioning the Country as the Global Hub for Process Intelligence and Enterprise AI

Celonis, the global leader in process intelligence, has announced ambitious plans to triple its workforce in India to 1,500 by 2027, positioning the country as a cornerstone of its global strategy. The expansion will make India account for nearly one-third of Celonis’s total global headcount, underscoring its growing importance as a hub for innovation, product development, and enterprise transformation.

“It’s about turning India into the global brain of process intelligence and enterprise AI,” said Kaushik Mitra, Vice President and Head of Go-to-Market for Celonis India. Based in Bengaluru, Celonis’s India teams are spearheading the development of new capabilities within its process intelligence platform, working alongside enterprises to help them modernize operations and accelerate AI-driven transformation.

At Celosphere 2025 in Munich, Celonis reaffirmed its vision that “there is no AI without Process Intelligence (PI)—and no PI without India.” The company introduced its groundbreaking concept of “context engineering,” which enables organizations to create digital twins of their real-world processes—providing the business context AI systems need to operate accurately and effectively. “Context engineering is the future,” said Mitra. “When you understand your processes, you can design AI systems that work reliably.”

Carsten Thoma, President of Celonis, praised India’s rapid technological progress and global influence, calling the country’s digital evolution “fascinating to watch.” He noted that India’s innovation-driven momentum aligns closely with Celonis’s mission to help businesses unlock process excellence and measurable outcomes through data-driven intelligence.

Mitra emphasized that while enterprises are rapidly adopting AI, many struggle to achieve meaningful impact due to lack of contextual grounding. “Companies are rushing to adopt AI, but unless you give it a business context, it won’t deliver results. You end up hallucinating,” he cautioned, reinforcing the value of process intelligence in bridging strategy and execution.

As Celonis deepens its commitment to India, the country is emerging not just as a delivery base but as a strategic innovation hub—powering the next phase of enterprise AI and process transformation on a global scale.
