New Delhi, India- The CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) and CUTS International have entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL) and Indic Pacific Legal Research LLP (IPLR) to strengthen research, policy development, and stakeholder engagement in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) governance, law, digital markets, and public policy.
As part of the collaboration, CUTS/CIRC has been designated as a Knowledge Partner to ISAIL. This partnership brings together complementary institutional strengths to advance responsible, ethical, and market-enabling approaches to AI regulation and standardisation in India and beyond.
Under the agreement, CUTS/CIRC and IPLR will collaborate as Research Partners, focusing on critical domains including:
- AI governance and competition law
- Digital markets and AI adoption
- AI literacy and consumer protection
- AI standardisation and enabling market practices, particularly for MSMEs
IPLR will contribute research expertise, policy analysis, and strategic insights through joint research initiatives, participation in expert groups, and support for AI standardisation efforts.
The partnership also provides a framework for joint research projects, academic publications, training programmes, workshops, and certification courses in AI and law. The parties will facilitate the exchange of research resources, expertise, and data, with project-specific terms to be finalised through mutual agreement.
To add further impetus to the agreement, the Parties shall mutually cooperate to collaborate, initiate and implement capacity development programmes, workshops, and training sessions.
In addition, ISAIL and CUTS/CIRC will collaborate on committee sessions, roundtables, and side-events, potentially organised to engage policymakers, industry stakeholders, academics, and students on emerging developments in AI governance, digital markets, and regulatory policy.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment by all participating institutions to advance evidence-based policy, responsible AI governance, and inclusive digital market development, contributing to India’s growing leadership in global AI policy and regulatory discourse.
