Claude AI outage disrupts access to website, code platform, and app for users worldwide

Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude experienced a widespread outage in March 2026 leaving users unable to access its website, Claude Code platform, and mobile application. The disruption, reported by multiple users and outage tracking platforms, highlights ongoing reliability challenges as demand for AI tools continues to surge.

According to outage tracker data, around 7:14 PM, a total of 448 users reported issues with the service. More than 57% of users faced problems loading the website, while 24% reported difficulties accessing Claude Code, and 19% encountered issues with the mobile app. These figures indicate that the disruption affected multiple components of the platform simultaneously.

Users across different regions took to social media to report errors, including failed chat responses, inability to load conversations, and general access failures. The scale and nature of the disruption suggest a backend or server-side issue rather than isolated user-side problems.

Anthropic acknowledged the outage and confirmed that its team was actively investigating the issue. The company’s status updates indicated that the problem was identified and under review, but no immediate resolution timeline was provided, leaving users uncertain about when full service would be restored.

The outage also comes amid a period of rapid growth and increased usage of AI platforms, which has placed additional pressure on infrastructure. Similar incidents in recent weeks suggest that scaling challenges remain a key concern for AI providers as adoption continues to rise.

By around 8:39 PM, reports of issues had significantly declined, suggesting that services were gradually being restored. However, the incident underscores the importance of system reliability for AI platforms that are increasingly being used for critical tasks such as coding, research, and enterprise applications.

Overall, the disruption highlights the growing pains of rapidly scaling AI systems, where even leading platforms must continuously upgrade infrastructure to keep pace with rising global demand.
