CometChat Raises $6.5 Mn to Scale Agentic AI Offerings

In-app communication platform CometChat has raised $6.5 million (approximately ₹60 crore) in a strategic funding round led by existing investor Run Ventures, taking its total funding to over $21 million. The investment is aimed at accelerating the company’s transition from a communication infrastructure provider to a full-fledged AI agent platform for enterprises.

The company plans to deploy the fresh capital toward building next-generation “agentic AI” capabilities that go beyond traditional chatbots. These AI agents are designed to proactively engage users, automate workflows, and deliver highly personalized customer interactions across channels such as web, SMS, WhatsApp, and voice.

CometChat’s platform introduces advanced features such as proactive outbound intelligence, where AI agents can initiate conversations based on triggers like delays or customer behavior, and multi-agent orchestration, which allows businesses to coordinate multiple specialized AI agents for tasks such as billing, scheduling, and support. A built-in customer intelligence layer further enhances personalization by continuously learning user preferences and interaction patterns.

Founded by Anuj Garg and Anant Garg, the company operates globally with a presence in both the US and India. Its platform integrates messaging, voice, video, moderation, notifications, analytics, and AI capabilities into a unified solution, serving businesses ranging from startups to large enterprises.

The company is targeting high-transaction industries such as wellness and beauty, healthcare, e-commerce, home services, and hospitality, where real-time engagement and proactive communication can directly impact customer retention and revenue.

This funding reflects a broader shift toward agentic AI in enterprise applications, where businesses are moving from reactive communication tools to intelligent systems capable of anticipating user needs and executing tasks autonomously. As competition intensifies in the AI-driven customer engagement space, platforms like CometChat are positioning themselves at the forefront of this transformation.
