Confluent, Inc., the data streaming pioneer, has appointed Stephen Deasy as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his role, Deasy will lead the engineering team’s vision, strategy, and execution, focusing on the evolution of Confluent’s data streaming platform to power AI and real-time intelligence at a global scale. He will concentrate on strengthening the company’s core infrastructure while enabling organizations to deploy real-time use cases such as agentic AI, hyper-personalized customer experiences, and automated operations.

Deasy comes with more than two decades of engineering leadership at high-growth software companies. He most recently served as CTO at Benchling, where he built global product and platform teams to support large-scale scientific workflows. Prior to that, he led engineering for Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Atlassian’s cloud platform, helping scale platforms used by millions of users worldwide. His career also spans leadership positions at VMware, EMC, and Groupon, providing him with deep expertise in building resilient, high-performance software systems.
