Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) has announced the appointment of Damith Pallewatte, FRM, FCMA, CGMA, as its Managing Director and CEO. Building on his impactful tenure as Acting CEO and Deputy General Manager of the Wholesale Banking Group, Pallewatte brings a wealth of experience spanning banking, risk management, strategy, credit, and operations. With a proven track record of success, he is poised to lead HNB toward its next phase of growth and transformation.
In his new role, Pallewatte is dedicated to advancing HNB’s inclusive growth agenda, with key focus areas including the revival of MSMEs, facilitation of trade, digital innovation, and disciplined risk management. Under his visionary leadership, HNB aims to cement its position as a pivotal player in Sri Lanka’s economic resurgence and evolve into a South Asian hub for global financial services exports.
Beyond his contributions to HNB, Pallewatte serves as Chairman of Acuity Knowledge Partners, Lanka Ventures PLC, and LVL Energy Fund PLC, among other ventures. He is also the Vice President of the International Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka. A distinguished academic, Pallewatte holds an MBA from PIM-SJP and a BSc in Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His extensive global certifications in financial risk and sustainability underscore his commitment to fostering sustainable financial practices and innovation in the banking sector.
