Databricks has named Kamalkanth Tummala as its new Vice President and Country Manager for India, reinforcing the company’s commitment to its US$250 million investment to accelerate AI innovation across the country. Kamal brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in enterprise technology, having previously served as Vice President at Salesforce, where he spearheaded high-impact programs and drove growth across multiple industries.

Over the past few years, Databricks has been steadily expanding its footprint in India. The company now operates a 105,000-square-foot R&D facility in Bengaluru, has increased its regional headcount, and launched the India Data + AI Academy to nurture AI talent. These initiatives reflect Databricks’ strategy to strengthen its ecosystem and drive enterprise adoption of data-driven and AI-powered solutions across sectors.
Further highlighting its India ambitions, Databricks will host the Data + AI World Tour Mumbai on September 19, 2025, bringing together industry leaders and innovators to showcase breakthroughs in AI transformation. The event aims to reinforce the company’s vision for data and AI adoption while connecting enterprises with the tools and expertise needed to thrive in a digital-first world.
