Dial4242, a tech-enabled ambulance service startup, has secured ₹9 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by IAN Group, with additional backing from BioAngels, IIM Bangalore’s NSRCEL, and several notable angel investors. The funding will fuel the company’s efforts to scale its operations, enhance its technology, and expand access to emergency medical services across the country.
The Mumbai-based startup, founded in 2016 by Jeetendra Lalwani, along with co-founders Nilesh Mahambre and Atin Verma, claims to operate India’s largest on-demand ambulance network, covering more than 850 cities. Dial4242 offers real-time ambulance tracking, automated dispatch, and a 24/7 call center through its digital platform. The company currently boasts an average turnaround time (TAT) of under 12 minutes and is now aiming to bring it down to under 8 minutes.
The newly raised capital will be used to upgrade its technology infrastructure, strengthen marketing efforts, expand medical centers in underserved areas, and build a stronger leadership team. The company also plans to roll out free ambulance services through a low-cost membership model, further improving accessibility.
“The loss of my father, my greatest inspiration, was the most painful moment of my life—but it sparked a mission to turn grief into impact. This became a mission to ensure that no life is lost due to the unavailability of an ambulance,” said Jeetendra Lalwani, Co-founder of Dial4242.
Operating on an asset-light, tech-first model, Dial4242 has formed strategic partnerships with major players like Amazon, Zomato, and Swiggy to extend emergency support to gig economy workers. With its robust backend and technology stack, the company positions itself as the fastest emergency response platform in India.
“Dial4242 is truly solving a real problem and surely a need that can arise any time. This team led by Jeetendra has already established the operations on a strong footing with a robust business model with a direct focus on saving lives,” said Padmaja Ruparel, Co-founder of IAN Group.
Over the next year, Dial4242 aims to strengthen hospital collaborations, expand its retail user base, and maintain its benchmark for the fastest ambulance response in the country.
