Former DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy officially assumed his role as the Aerospace and Defense Advisor to the Government of Andhra Pradesh during a ceremony held at the APIIC Towers in Mangalagiri on Thursday.
Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav extended his congratulations to Dr Reddy, expressing hope that his leadership would help transform Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for defense industries and create new employment opportunities. He also praised Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for appointing an industry veteran whose expertise would be instrumental in accelerating the State’s industrial growth.
Addressing the media, Dr Reddy conveyed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for entrusting him with the responsibility. He shared his plans to leverage Andhra Pradesh’s strategic strengths — including an extensive coastline, abundant land resources, and a skilled workforce — to drive growth in the industrial and defense sectors.
Highlighting the critical role of major ports such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Krishnapatnam, Dr Reddy also identified Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, Tirupati, and Nellore as key areas poised for industrial development.
The ceremony featured a traditional welcome with Vedic rituals and was attended by several dignitaries, including former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, APIIC Managing Director Abhishek Kishore, APGENCO MD Chakradhar Babu, and other senior officials.
Dr Reddy committed to working closely with various stakeholders to help realize Chief Minister Naidu’s vision of establishing Andhra Pradesh as a leading industrial and defense manufacturing hub.
