Dubai-headquartered technology company Solstice Data has signed a major Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to invest ₹52,600 crore in the Indian state of Kerala, marking one of the largest proposed investments in the region’s digital infrastructure sector. The agreement aims to establish a large artificial intelligence-driven data centre facility at KINFRA Industrial Park located in Mattannur in the Kannur district. The project is expected to significantly strengthen Kerala’s technology ecosystem and support the growing demand for high-performance computing infrastructure.
Under the terms of the agreement, approximately 100 acres of land within the industrial park will be allocated to Solstice Data for developing its facilities. The project will focus on building advanced artificial intelligence-driven high-performance computing (HPC) data centres designed to support large-scale data processing and cloud-based digital services. Officials stated that the investment will be implemented gradually over a period of five to seven years as the company develops the infrastructure and related technology capabilities.
The MoU was formally exchanged in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram between Raj Babu Thulaseedharan, India Country Head of Solstice Data, and Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director of KINFRA. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev and Director of Industries P Vishnuraj, highlighting the state government’s support for the project. Officials described the agreement as a key step toward expanding Kerala’s position in India’s rapidly growing digital infrastructure sector.
Solstice Data is known globally for designing, developing, and operating advanced AI-powered data centres that support large-scale computing operations. Apart from its headquarters in Dubai, the company manages more than sixty data centre projects in various international markets, including the United States and Canada. Through this investment, the company plans to expand its presence in India while contributing to the development of high-performance computing infrastructure required for artificial intelligence, cloud services, and enterprise digital transformation.
Industry experts believe the project could unlock new opportunities within Kerala’s digital economy by attracting technology companies, startups, and cloud service providers to the region. State officials noted that the proposed data centre project is expected to create new business opportunities and strengthen the technological capabilities of the state’s IT ecosystem, which has been expanding rapidly in recent years. The initiative also aligns with India’s broader push to build domestic data infrastructure to support the growing use of artificial intelligence and data-intensive technologies.
The KINFRA Industrial Park in Mattannur spans around 175 acres, with about 123 acres available for industrial use after infrastructure development. With the signing of the MoU, the remaining 100 acres of available land in the park will now be utilized for the Solstice Data project. Officials described the agreement as a significant milestone for industrial growth in the region and a major boost for Kerala’s ambitions to become a hub for advanced digital infrastructure and technology innovation in India
