In a significant boost to India’s digital health ecosystem, Eisai Pharmaceuticals India, a global leader in human health care (hhc), has announced the launch of its new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Visakhapatnam. The initiative marks a key step in the company’s mission to drive digital transformation and healthcare innovation globally.
The announcement was made by Makoto Haketsu, Global Chief Information Officer of Eisai Pharma, during his visit to GITAM Deemed to be University on July 9, 2025. Accompanied by his core technical team, Mr. Haketsu met with Visakhapatnam MP and GITAM President M. Sribharat to explore collaborative opportunities in advanced research and innovation.
The discussions emphasized academic-industry partnerships in areas such as data science, pharmaceutical R&D, and healthcare technologies. Mr. Sribharat welcomed the initiative and expressed interest in aligning GITAM’s research priorities with Eisai’s goals in digital healthcare.
Mr. Haketsu acknowledged the support received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), stating, “By bringing together exceptional digital talent, we aim to drive cutting-edge solutions that redefine how healthcare meets evolving global needs.”
The new GCC in Visakhapatnam is set to become a strategic pillar in Eisai’s global innovation network, focusing on improving healthcare access, personalized treatment, and the use of emerging technologies to meet the growing demands of healthcare systems worldwide.
